Yumeko’s weekly meme #6 – makeup colors

I'm excited about this week's edition by Yumeko as it's Spring/Summer and what's more apt than COLORS?  join her if you are game :)

1. black
most of my black makeup are of eyeliner (Heoine Make, K-Palette & Dolly Wink) and of course mascara (Maybelline Falsies and Dolly Wink with Anna Sui curler, which I bought at Narita Airport and I think it is better than Shu Uemura's).  from MAC, I have here Blacktrack Fluidline and Prep+Prime Skin Base Visage.
then I have products in black packaging.  for those/friends who fly on Singapore Airlines, I strongly recommend that you buy this travel exclusive Lancôme La Maison palette at only S$61, which comes with 3 Ombre Absolue powder eye shadows and a powder blush.  next, the Shu Uemura Prima Palette case is simply pretty with intricate lace motif embossed on it.  I got this at Faces in Hong Kong, which is soooo much cheaper than in Singapore.

2. brown

brown is an easy one, you can't go wrong with brown.
first stop, the Urban Decay Naked palette is a must-have, which has been mentioned a gazillion times in any medium.  the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel 547 in Bronze Rosé is versatile as a bronzer for contouring and blusher.  Illamasqua powder blusher in Ambition, which has a slight tinge of brown though some say it is muted pink-plum with gold sparkles.  Sleek blusher in Suede 921 is great for a casual look.  the Becca Beach Tint is neutral and has a very pleasant fragrance to it, it can also be applied on the lips.  this Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick in 16 Akanecha 茜茶 is my first Suqqu (will definitely not my last); it is a rich, creamy brown, which I prefer to apply on top of a balm or light shaded lipstick to lighten its intensity.  Paul & Joe Lipstick C in 64 is one of my fav brown/nude colors.  the Burberry Lip Glow in 01 Rosewood is one of its bestsellers.  Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm in 08 is heavenly lip-quenching.  the Jill Stuart Eye Jelly in 10 Vintage Decor gives pretty sparkle on the lids that never fails to receive compliments from my friends.
for eyebrow, I love liquid application and the K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 24h in 01, K-Palette Lasting 2Way Eyebrow 24h in 01, Esprique Liquid Eyebrow in GY002 are all my HGs.  lastly, the Lancôme Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Café is the perfect shade for lining my bottom waterline.

3. white

the Jill Stuart Loose Powder in 02 Shine is iridescent, which is better applied on the décolletage / shouders or as a highligher on the high points of the face.  the La Mer The Powder in 05 Translucent is my HG, which I apply after foundation.  thisworks Perfect Look Skin Miracle was purchased after watching numerous (and inspiring) Lisa Eldridge's YouTube video clips; it is not white but olive, and packed with all the natural goodness in a primer.  the Chanel Illuminating Makeup Base is just one of those primers that I alternate with.  for sun screen, I rely on either the Shiseido Perfect UV Protector or Clarins Day Screen (comes in 3 shades - neutral, pink and beige).  the Majolica Majorca Lash Bone Fiber (comes in white or black) is a mascara base, touted to create more definition to lashes, especially the sparse ones.  the Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color in WT901 is a fantastic base as well as a highlighter on brow bone (watch how Dick Page does wonders here).  Jill Stuart Eye Jelly in 104 Satin Lingerie is a limited Christmas edition color with a tinge of pink.  I bought this Ettusais Lip Essence (infused with rose) from Tokyo and I don't remember seeing this in Singapore.  the Paul & Joe Lip Treatment Stick in 001 is also a limited edition from the Alice in Wonderland collection.  the Benefit California Kissin' lip shine is in blue sheen and is said to make teeth appear whiter; it is also very minty (may sting your lips upon application).

4. orange
after the photo-taking and packing up all my stuff, I realized I forgot to add a few more orange items... well, this happens ya?  let's do with my paltry collection of orange.
the Canmake Cheek & Cheek in 01 comes in baby pink & light orange shades - nothing spectacular but it is cheap and cute.  this Sleek Blush in Rose Gold 926 is famous as a dupe to NARS Orgasm, since I do not have Orgasm, this is just perfect for good 'ol rosy charm.  IRL, the ModelsOwn Angled Blush Brush is less yellow and more orange - it is not a fabulous brush but does a decent job.
I love Laneige Love In Bloom Lipgloss in 01 Watery Berry, which comes with a dainty lip brush; it's moisturizing and has quite an intense color payoff - highly recommended.  Essence is a relatively new entry into Singapore (thanks to Watsons); the Ballerina Backstage Lipgloss in 02 On Your Gracile Tiptoe gives a jelly-like coral tinge with no glitters.  unlike Essence, the Chanel Lipgloss in 337 Calypso limited edition has loads of micro glitters that shout Summer is here!  Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 46 Liberté is a muted coral that is quite understated and easy for everyday wear.

5. the most popular color amongst your makeup collection
that has to be pink.  I love pink, pink is everywhere... yeah I'm sure it's obvious to you.
I have Chanel Blush Horizon de Chanel - a beautiful palette that fulfills every girl's dream.  I was thrilled when I bought the last piece of Chanel Powder Blush in 69 Fleur de Lotus at Isetan; it's currently my everyday blusher.  the Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Hussy is VERY pigmented and has to be applied with a light hand.  NARS Angelika multiple is blue-toned, which I use as a blush base.  I have several Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact but decided to show you two - 04 Hot Cherry and 01 Baby Blush.  for loose powder blush, I have its Blush Blossom in 101 Sensual Dahlia.  all Jill Stuart blushers come attached with a retractable brush.
for lip products, I have Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Frenzy and Sheer Lipgloss in Divine; they are pigmented, as with its blushers, hence a little goes a long way.  the Dior Ultra Gloss in 662 is very shimmery.  Jill Stuart makes one of the best lipglosses; 102 Silky Pink is a limited edition in deluxe size whereas 03 Dolly Kiss is a permanent and a beautiful pop of pink to brighten any lips.  the MOR Lip Macaron in Rosebud is clear but I just love its pink tin packaging.  MOR is an Australian brand, which I ordered from a local beauty eRetailer, Luxola.  Chanel Lipgloss in 57 Insolence and Stila Lip Glaze in Pucker Up are also my fav pinks, they are both light and gentle to the lips.  here comes my HG - the YSL Glossy Stain in 12 Corail Fauve which I believe has been raved about like million times.  I bought it from Barneys after reading Sophia's tweet that it ships free internationally (for a limited period only I think).  I learnt from Joey's tweet that the YSL Glossy Stain is now available at Changi Airport T2 duty-free.

thanks for reading and have a great weekend.

Yumeko’s weekly meme #5 – body care edition

here's my second attempt joining Yumeko’s weekly meme.

body care is fundamental to civilization and a courtesy to the community we live in. I loathe people with BO (body odor) and bad-smelling laundry. and I think with good body care regime, one must also have good laundry care products to "envelop" what's within. speaking of laundry care, I love Kao Attack Perfume in Fruity scent, which keeps my laundry fragrant and clean.

OK, enough said, let's get on with my list.

1. body wash

I'm using Thierry Mugler Angel Innocent crystal shower gel, which is sensuous and feminine - its scent lasts and my kids love to sniff my arms. I also stock up a fair bit of bath products - The Body Shop Earth Lovers range (they are eco-friendly), Korres Fig (bought from Asos) and Soap & Glory body wash/gel. the S&G range is value-for-money for a huge bottle and its sweet scent lingers in my bathroom.

2. skin moisturizer

the Jurlique Calendula Cream is gentle to my skin as I'm suffering with mild eczema, leaving it supple in the morning after an overnight use. occasionally, I use Physiogel or Soap & Glory Body Butter. skin moisturizers are also effective when used on feet and hands before bedtime for clean-looking skin as if you have had a paraffin-wax treatment.

3. hair treatment / conditioner

I have colored & highlighted hair, it's important to keep hair color vibrant, at the same time, moisturized. the L'oréal shampoo & conditioner for colored hair duo do just that. every week, I treat my hair with Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating mask (bought from BeautyBay) for soft, bouncy hair that smells oh-so-heavenly. after towel-dried my hair, I'll coat them with Lumi-oil and Absolute Repair oil by L'oréal to protect and seal the nutrients from conditioning or treatment. on special occasions (dating the hubby or meeting the girls), I'll spray Chanel Chance eau fraîche hair mist (below pic) to oomph the fragrant quotient.

4. perfume

I'm a big fan of fragrances! these are my current favs - Chanel Chance body mist, eau fraîche hair mist, eau tendre, Floral by Gucci - Gorgeous Gardenia, Thierry Mugler eau de Star created by Louise Turner who also designed Love by Chole, Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb - top notes of bergamot & green tea, and Jill Stuart Night Jewel. on days when I go to the neighborhood for groceries or errands, the Chanel Chance body mist is the go-to for a light, airy whiff of girly innocence.

5. other body care items you use

I can't leave home without a spritz of deodorizer such as Rexona (I also use Nivea and Dove's). in this tropical climate when humidity is cruel to our glands, this little spray is a god-send in keeping odor at bay and making one smells fresh all day. the Benefit Bathina body balm is used to buff my legs when I wear skirts to give my skin a subtle sheen, it also acts as an anti-static barrier. the Mamma Mio boob tube bust & neck firmer gives my neck and décolleté a sheer veil of shimmer and it smells delicious! when I'm out in the sun, I'll spray Mentholatum's latest innovation - the Sunplay Watery Cool UV Spray with SPF75 PA+++. it has anti-aging agent and menthol to keep skin cool.

these are some of my favorites and I'm glad I could share my little indulgences with you. thanks for reading.

Friday Photo Meme - what's in your bag edition

it's so fun reading Yumeko's Friday Meme through Rouge Deluxe and I managed to find time joining in in this hot Sunday (I know I'm late but hey, it's better than nothing).

1. cellphone/mobile phone

I've 2 - the BB is company cell & Apple 4S is personal. I only bothered to "dress up" my 4S with this beautiful Blossom 3D cover with peonies I ordered recently from Ahbengshop.

2. wallet/purse/whatever you keep your money in
3. something in your wallet [cards/coins/money/whatever]

this Coach heritage has many compartments and been with me for ages. it's burst into seams with loads of cards, coins, etc. it's serving me well though I'm eyeing on a Chanel wallet.however big it is, it can't contain my truckload of cards, so I rely partially on this LV card holder gifted by my dear sister. as you can see, I'm a coffee lover and Isetan is one of my fav department stores!

4. makeup you carry on the go

love this SIA drawstring pouch that I collected in past trips, it's small yet can store heaps. I usually have 2 lipsticks of pink/coral and nude hues (Dior Lucky & Chanel Liberte), a lipgloss (Chanel Calypso), mini Crabtree & Evelyn La Source lotion, Gatsby oil blotters (a must in tropical climate), Bath & Body Works anti-bac hand gel, Rohto eye drop (bought in Tokyo) to reduce dryness/redness, mini Chanel eau fraîche sheer moisture mist to smell nice and Guerlain Météorites compact in 02 teint beige for touching up.

5. whatever else you wish to share from your bag

love, love, love this Swarovski Hello Kitty pen that has 160 clear Swarovski crystals and the little charm in HK's silhouette. any girl can't do without a packet of tissue paper (this Kleenex was from Taiwan, which has a wide selection of nicely packaged tissue packets). Biore powder sheets helps in this sweltering heat to help me feel fresh and clean. the Rilakkuma card case keeps my EZ link card and office entry cards tidy with a wrist chain and a cute charm - my female colleagues love it.

thanks for reading this meme :)
